Architects: Earn all of your AIA continuing education requirements and Massachusetts
continuing education requirements at Build Boston!
Architects, interior designers, and other industry professionals may earn continuing
education credit by attending one or more of the 240 Build Boston workshops and tours.
AIA members
You must include your AIA membership number on the registration form when registering for Build Boston workshops
to ensure your LUs are credited properly. AIA members may also earn LUs by self-reporting product research at the
show. Click here for details.
IDP Training Units
Earn IDP training units at Build Boston workshops that provide AIA Learning Units. Each hour of Build Boston
continuing-education credit earns one AIA Learning Unit Hour and each AIA Learning Unit Hour earns 0.25 IDP
Training Units. When submitting your IDP training report, you must include an AIA transcript documenting completion
of AIA Learning Units. If you are not an AIA member, the AIA will provide you with a member-type number that
allows you to record AIA-approved continuing education sessions including sessions at Build Boston. To receive
your member-type number, send an email to IDP@aia.org with your
name, address, email, phone number, highest degree (BA, BS, BARCH, MARCH, DARCH, other), school, graduation date
and NCARB customer ID number. Don’t forget to include your AIA number or member-type number when you register
for Build Boston.
Non-AIA member architects
You may pick up a standard certificate for your continuing education record at the BSA Resource Center or
Continuing Education desk on site during Build Boston.
AIA members earn one (1) AIA Learning Unit for each workshop hour (e.g., earn 1.5 LUs for a 90- minute workshop).
In addition, to meet the AIA/CES requirement for Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW), look for those workshops with
the “HSW” notation on pages 14–25 of the attendee brochure.
Each HSW workshop hour earns you 1 HSW Learning Unit.
